We lost a great Notre Dame man Tuesday night.  Joe Signaigo, a pillar of the community here in Memphis, a member of three national championship teams, 43, 46 and 47 and a member of the NFL all-pro team in 1950 passed away.

The 1950 all-pro team was the first year after the merger of the American Conference, in which Joe played for the Cleveland Browns and the New York Yankees, with the NFL.  Since many players played both ways there were only 11 players on the team, including Joe, Johnny Lujack and George Connor.  No school had two, let alone three on the team.

Joe received a special honor, life achievement award, from the Notre Dame Club of Memphis at Universal Notre Dame Night this past June along with his fellow alums, Bud Dudley and Bob Kuehner.

See below, with Bud on the left and Joe on the right holding their plaques:

Also, see the announcements:

The visitation will be this evening at Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5-8PM, with a rosary at 7:30PM. The funeral mass will be at 11AM on Saturday at Church of the Holy Spirit.
